How did you two meet?
Adrian and Kirsten met in Detroit while Adrian was playing professionally for Detroit City FC. Kirsten was living and working in the city at the time, with Canada just across the lake, and their paths crossed at the perfect moment. What started as a simple introduction quickly grew into something steady, easy, and deeply natural.
Your first date
For their first date, they met up at Eastern Market on a Saturday morning. The idea was to keep it casual, just walk around, grab coffee, and see if the conversation flowed. They ended up weaving through vendors, sampling little bites, and talking about everything from their families to the weirdest foods they’ve ever tried.
At one point, they wandered into a spice shop where Adrian insisted on smelling every jar like he was a professional chef. Kirsten said it was the moment she realized he was unintentionally hilarious.
What was supposed to be a quick meet-up turned into an unhurried morning that neither of them wanted to end. It was easy, comfortable, and felt like the start of something real.
How long were you together before getting engaged?
Adrian and Kirsten started dating in mid-2022. Over the next three years of long seasons, travel, work, and building a life together, their relationship only grew stronger. Adrian proposed in November 2025.
How did he propose?
After the close of the soccer season, the two escaped to Mexico to relax and celebrate the end of a long year. One evening, as the sun dipped into the ocean and the beach turned gold, Adrian got down on one knee and asked Kirsten to marry him. A quiet, perfect moment, just the two of them, the waves, and the rest of their lives in front of them.

The wedding will likely take place in 2027. They’re planning something meaningful and close to family, somewhere in the U.S. so Kirsten’s family can be part of every moment, with Adrian’s family traveling from Germany to join the celebration.
